"DataJewellers" means Data Doodles Tech Private Limited, the operator of the DataJewellers service ("we", "us"). These terms add to the Terms & Conditions, which continue to apply in full. Where these terms and the Terms & Conditions differ on a point specific to an app, these terms win for that point.

1. What these terms cover

They cover two things:

  • The desktop application — a small application we build with Tauri for macOS, Windows and Linux. It is a shell: you enter your business's workspace address, and it loads that workspace. The features, records and permissions are the same as in a browser, because it is the same product.
  • Any mobile application for iOS or Android that DataJewellers may publish in future. These terms are written so that they already apply if and when we do.

1.1 There is no mobile app today

To be plain about it: as at the effective date of this version, DataJewellers publishes no iOS or Android application. There is no DataJewellers app on the App Store or on Google Play, and none has been submitted to or approved by Apple or Google. Anything presenting itself as a DataJewellers mobile app is not ours — please report it to support@datadoodlestech.com.

Until then, you use DataJewellers on a phone or tablet through its web browser. The workspace is built to work on a small screen, and barcode scanning works in a mobile browser that supports it.

2. If we publish an app store app

When and if we publish through the App Store or Google Play, the operator's own terms — Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement and media services terms, or Google Play's terms — will apply to that download in addition to these terms. If those terms conflict with these on a point they govern, theirs prevail for that point.

Apple and Google are not parties to your agreement with us. They provide no warranty for DataJewellers, they are not responsible for it, and they have no obligation to support it. Any claim about the application is between you and DataJewellers.

3. Permissions

We ask for as little as the product can function with.

3.1 Camera — only for the barcode scanner, only when you start it

The camera is used for one thing: reading the barcode on a jewellery tag. It is switched on only when you press the button to start the scanner — never automatically, never in the background, and never on page load. While it is running, the video is analysed frame by frame on your own device by the browser's built-in barcode reader, and only the decoded number is used. No image, video, frame or still is uploaded to us or to anyone else, and none is saved on the device. Closing the scanner or leaving the screen stops the camera.

If your browser has no built-in barcode reader, scanning is simply unavailable and you type the code instead. That is the only fallback; nothing is sent elsewhere to be decoded.

3.2 What we do not ask for

The product does not request notifications, location, contacts, your photo library, Bluetooth, microphone, or access to your files. The desktop application declares no camera, filesystem or shell capability of its own, and it grants the loaded workspace no privileged access to your computer.

If a future version needs a permission it does not need today, we will explain why in the app before asking, and update these terms.

4. Your device is part of your security

A signed-in device is a way into your business's records. You agree to:

  • Keep a screen lock — passcode, PIN or biometric — on any device that runs DataJewellers.
  • Keep the operating system and browser updated.
  • Sign out when you finish on a shared or counter device, and never leave a session open where a customer can reach it.
  • Not share your account with anyone; each person who uses the product needs their own user.
  • Report a lost or stolen device to your business owner or administrator immediately. They can deactivate your user in Settings, which revokes your live sessions at once — including the one on the missing device — and, if needed, revoke the device itself.

Sessions also expire on their own: 12 hours for a workspace session.

5. Working offline

Both the browser and desktop app keep billing working when the connection drops.

  • Sales made offline are queued on the device and are not part of your books until they sync. Until then they exist only there, so do not wipe the app or clear its data with unsynced sales pending.
  • To make offline billing possible, the device stores a local copy of some stock and customer records from your workspace. Anyone who can unlock that device and sign in can see it — which is why section 4 matters.
  • Removing the application, or clearing its data, deletes that local copy and anything still queued. What has already synced remains safely in your workspace.
  • Offline sales sync under a device identifier and the last signed-in user, so that a sale made on a counter device is attributed correctly when it reaches the server.

6. Updates and supported versions

We improve and fix the product continuously, and server-side changes sometimes require a matching client.

  • The desktop application checks for updates through its built-in updater and installs only packages signed with our release key. Where a build's updater is not configured, you install new versions by downloading them from us.
  • We may require you to update in order to keep using the service, and we may stop supporting older versions. An old version may stop working, without individual notice. Keeping automatic updates enabled is the simplest way to avoid this.
  • We do not promise that any version will keep working on an operating system that its own vendor no longer supports.

7. Your account

Everything the app does, it does as your user, under the roles and permissions your business has given you. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Passwords must meet the policy shown when you set one. Suspected compromise: change your password, tell your business owner, and see Security & Responsible Disclosure.

8. Licence

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable licence to install and use the applications on devices you control, only to use your business's own DataJewellers workspace, and only while that business's subscription entitles it to the service. You may not copy, sell, rent, lend, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the applications, remove their notices, or redistribute them. We keep all intellectual property rights in the applications; nothing here transfers ownership.

9. Ending it

This licence ends when your user is deactivated, when your business's agreement with us ends, or if you breach these terms. On ending, stop using the applications and remove them; the local copies described in section 5 go with them. Your business's records remain governed by the Terms & Conditions and the Data Retention & Deletion Policy.

10. Contact and changes

Questions or a problem with an application: support@datadoodlestech.com. Security reports: support@datadoodlestech.com. We publish a new version of these terms when the applications change materially; earlier versions stay available from this page.
